Oil Pilot

Oil spills have a significant harm to marine life, marine environment and humans. However, people always focus on major oil spills, and the small oil spills are mostly ignored. The information proves that the small oil spill accidents caused by the operational errors is the most frequent, but due to the toll cost of to clean each small oil spill, it is often not well recorded and treated.

Oil Pilot is a device that automatically handles small oil spill accidents, making some contribution to nature and humans. For this project, I did research on the current conditions and solutions to the marine oil spill, took reference from umbrella and origami and did a series of structural tests using 3D printing.
